How to Read Food Labels

If you are trying to lose weight, it is a good idea to learn how to read food labels. It would be difficult to keep track of every piece of food that passes your lips, but you should try to measure or count most foods and drinks until you get a good feel for portion sizes. You might be surprised to find out that many portions on fast food menus are actually equal to 2 or 3 "official" meal sized portions. Fast food is a bad idea by itself but if you super size everything you are doing yourself more harm than good and too much can have devastating effects to your diet. Even if the meal is satisfying for the minute. Those meals are loaded, and I mean loaded with fat, carbohydrates and calories not to mention preservatives and additives. It is ok to splurge every now and again but keep your splurges to a minimum. You can actually purchase food scales that are programmed with nutritional information if you want to really get into keeping track of what your eating. but you can take a simpler, easier approach and it should work nicely for you. Reading food labels is an easy and effective way to determine the right kind of food you want to buying at the grocery store to help with your weight loss plan. It lets you make sensible food selections. By looking at the "Nutrition Facts" section of the food label on each package or can, you can identify the amount of serving sizes provided in that product.

With food labels, are now easier to read and understand. You can quickly figure out the nutrition content of an item, how much of the can or package makes up a serving, how many calories in a serving, how much fat and carbohydrates and what kind of fat and carbs it includes. Usually, it contains the information on saturated fat, sodium, total fat, fiber, and cholesterol amount "per serving."

However, if you are not used to looking at the numbers than understanding and reading these food labels may be a bit confusing at first.

1. Serving size

This is generally listed first at the top of the label.

The serving size is the recommended intake for this product based on specific guidelines taking into account whether this is a meal or snack item. However, it does not always reflect your actual intake. What some might consider a small 1 serving bag of chips may actually be 2 servings if you look on the back of the bag. Which means the nutritional information may be double what they at first thought. So double the fat, double the carbs and calories.

The serving size determines the amount of nutrients that you will take in. This means that if you will follow the serving size listed, you will obtain the nutrients as exactly as listed.

For instance, if the serving size says one serving size is approximately 15 chips (typical), that would mean you have to eat 15 chips and you have just eaten one serving. So, the amount of nutrients stated in the food label is the same amount that has entered your body considering the fact that you have just eaten 15 chips. Portions can be listed by piece, by oz, by grams, by cup, by tablespoon, pretty much by any measurement you can think of depending on the food.

2. Nutrients

This refers to the list of available nutrients in a the item. It is also where the nutritional claims of the product based on the recommended daily dietary allowance are stated. Usually, the nutritional amounts are based on both the 2,500-calorie diets and the 2,000 recommended dietary allowances.

In order to understand the numeric value of each item, you should know that the "% daily value" that the food label indicates is actually based on how a particular food corresponds to the recommended daily dietary allowance for a 2,000 calorie.

3. Ingredients

This refers to the list of the ingredients that were used to manufacture the product. The listing is usually arranged from the main ingredients that have the greater amount by weight up to the smallest or least quantity.

4. Label claim

This refers to the kinds of nutritional claims of a particular food item. For instance, if an item says it is sodium-free, it has less than 5 milligrams per serving or a low fat item actually contains 3 grams of fat or less.

Most people know that in order to burn more fat you need to increase your metabolism. Increasing your metabolism enables your body to burn fat and lose weight faster. There are several things that can affect the rate of your metabolism. Building a Home Business?

Work, work work. Nothing comes to you for free. If you want success, you must work at it. Work at it as hard as you did in your 9-5. Put in the hours now so that you can play later. Some of you may have a family to take care of and may have to keep your day job for a while. Give it the hours that you can but find a balance. Don't neglect your work at home business but don't neglect your family either.

Set goals for each. Set specific times you will work and times you will spend with your family. You cannot get those years back. If you are able to go full time in your business then give it all you would if your boss were standing over your shoulders. It will take longer if you cannot yet commit to full time but it will happen if you are dedicated.

Write down what you want. Where do you want to be in a year, 5 years, 20 years. What do you want your work at home business to look like. Once you write this down you can start making a plan to achieve your goals. How much would you realistically like to see yourself earning and by when? Would you like a new home? A car? To be able to pay for your children's college in full? Nothing is too much or too little. This is what you want. Not what you think you should want.

It is also good to create small goals within larger goals, sometimes seeing your progress in small steps is all you need to keep you on track.

Remember, you can achieve what you want to in your work at home business. You just have to set the wheels in motion and keep moving forward. We all have our ups and downs, these are just stepping stones to achieving your goals.

Everyone likes the idea of having their own soho business, but most people wonder if it is something that they can really do. Can you really make money working at home? The idea can be extremely intimidating. There are so many what ifs. What if I choose the wrong business? What if I don't have the self discipline. What if I don't get customers? What if I fail?

First of all, you can do anything you put your mind to. So, you do have to decide to do it, you have to be determined and you have to be clear that this is what you want to do.

Secondly, to find the right soho business you just need to do a little research. Find out about the company you are looking into. How long have they been in business? What kind of compensation plan do they have? What kind of support is offered by the company. Talk to others who are in the business

The third thing I want to talk about is self discipline. This is the reason you have to make up your mind about your soho business. Treat it like a "regular job". Make a plan as to what you are going to do each day and stick to it. With the right soho business you should be able to work with others in your group to help you design a daily or weekly plan that will work for you.

This brings us to customers. There are many options when you want to attract customers to your soho business. There are many old school methods such as flyers, signs, ads, and leads, but these can become very expensive and time consuming for such a small return. So far the best way I have found to get customers is to buy them.

I don't have to buy leads or ads or run around putting flyers on cars and then wait for the calls to come in. Calls from people who may be serious or not and then spend a bunch of time convincing them that what I have they need. Not that there is anything wrong with that method, but it is so much easier to simply buy a customer who is already buying the product I want to market to them and make money off of what ever they are buying.

If you have a network marketing business, you have probably put a lot of thought and likely a lot of cold hard cash into finding prospects to tout your business to. The goal of course is to get customers and recruit new people into your downline. What avenues did you go down to try to build your business?

Flyers or sizzle cards for Working at Home Leads

I have, in the past, spent many hours passing these out. I've gone from parking lot to parking lot putting flyers on cars, on office doors and other conspicuous places. They did do their job as far as getting me people to talk to. I got calls. People were interested in what I was pushing, but the problem was in order to get them interested I had to mislead them a bit with flyer titles like "We pay you to lose weight!". It was true we did offer insentives by the pound but in reality the calls mostly came from folks who had no money to begin with and actually thought we were some lab using experimental products that were guaranteed to lose weight while they got paid. Instead, we were involved with an MLM company that offered weight loss products that we were trying to sell. The more I called the more confident I got but those calls were still basically cold calls and you have to put out an incredible amount of flyers to get a few calls.

I also tried Signs. I put them out. A lot of Nevada is solid rock but still I went around pounding signs into the ground, hanging them on fences and any place else I thought looked good. I Don't really think those did even as well as the flyers.

This at first glance appears to be the easiest. The idea is you buy leads from a lead company. These are supposed to be targeted. Targeted to what your doing. They are already looking for a working at home business or looking for the products that you are selling. Sounds great right? You will call these leads and the person on the other end will be begging to join your business and buy your products. Unfortunately, this is usually not the case, not even close. Many of the calls go bad from the git go. They have been put on a list and have been called so many times, they will want nothing to do with you or your business. Some of them simply filled out a form to get some free thing or another and without even realizing it they were added to a list and then sold to you and maybe others. Even if they are looking at a work at home business or some nutritional products you still have to sell them on what you've got. No matter how many times your upline says the products sell themselves, nothing actually sells itself.

Working at Home Leads

If you have a network marketing business, like FHTM, you have probably put a lot of thought and likely a lot of cold hard cash into finding prospects to tout your business to. The goal of course is to get customers and recruit new people into your down line. What avenues did you go down to try to build your business?

Flyers or sizzle cards for Leads

I have, in the past, spent many hours passing these out. I've gone from parking lot to parking lot putting flyers on cars, on office doors. Either way they did do their job as far as getting me people to talk to. I got calls. People were interested in what I was pushing but the problem was in order to get them interested I had to mislead them a bit with flyer titles like "We pay you to lose weight!". It was true we did offer incentives by the pound but in reality the calls mostly came from folks who had no money to begin with and actually thought we were some lab using experimental products that were guaranteed to lose weight. Instead we were involved with an MLM company that offered weight loss products that we were trying to sell. The more I called the more confident I got but those calls were still basically cold calls and you have to put out a huge amount to get a few calls.

Post Signs for Leads

I also tried Signs. I put them out. A lot of Nevada seems to be solid rock but still I went around pounding signs into the ground, hanging them on fences and any place else I thought looked good. I Don't really think those did even as well as the flyers.

Car Signs for Leads

Car signs. Yes we had one. We had it stickered to the our back windshield. Great big and bold. I think we got one call from that.

Business cards for Leads

I went around to a lot of local businesses and requested that they let us put our cards in their stores. Many of them did. We hardly received enough of a response on that to even mention it, but here it is.

Wear the button for Leads

Yes, I wore the button. The big white button with the words " Lose weight now ask me how!" I don't think I ever had anyone ask but I can imagine what they were thinking!

Newspaper ads, if you want your ad in a paper that will do any good at all, it will cost you an arm and a leg. Again, like flyers we did the Pennysaver and other local paper ads. They are pretty cheap but the results are almost exactly the same as those flyers with the same people looking for a freebie.

Purchasing leads

This at first glance appears to be the easiest. The idea is you buy leads from a lead company. These are supposed to be targeted. Targeted to what your doing. They are already looking for a working at home business or looking for the products that you are selling. Sounds great right? You will call these leads and the person on the other end will be begging to join your business and buy your products. Unfortunately, this is usually not the case, not even close. Many of the calls go bad from the get-go. They have been put on a list and have been called so many times, they will want nothing to do with you or your business. Some of them simply filled out a form to get some free thing or another and without even realizing it they were added to a list and then sold to you and maybe others. Even if they are looking at a work at home business or some nutritional products you still have to sell them on what you've got. No matter how many times your upline says the products sell themselves, nothing actually sells itself.

So what else is there? How else can you get customers? How can you get results without all the fuss and muss? You can buy your customers. That is what I do. I buy my customers now.

This is is a review of FHTM based solely on my search on the Internet using Google. FHTM appears to be a leading company in the MLM business. FHTM offers extensive support mixed with some top of the line products and services and a compensation plan that many of their representatives are raving about.

The FHTM difference is the products and services they offer. They have partnered with some leading brand name companies to offer products and services that the people already know and already use. Variety is another key factor in their success. They don't just focus on health and nutrition. Aside from nutrition, they offer home security systems, cellular phone service, VoIP, identity protection, and a Travel service. Heck, they even offer satellite television service. Working at home

The first time I thought about working at home was about 13 years ago. I had a new baby who was going through some difficulties but I really did not have great expectations for what I would make. It would be the equivalent of any job I had had. At least minimum wage but I would get to stay at home. I just thought that surely there was something out there where I could earn money working at home while being with my baby. I looked into a few envelope stuffing and other opportunities, and settled on Herbalife, which I believe was a great company. I loved the products & I loved the idea of working at home. This is where I got the bug. This is when I knew that this was the way to do it. I saw the potential of MLM. Time went by, a little money was made, not a lot, but some and I could see it growing.

I am not sure why but I ended up going back to a "real" job. Over the last 5 1/2 yrs my vision never changed. I always knew I would go back, not necessarily to Herbalife, although for most of the last few years I thought that would be where I went. It was a great company when I was there. I also felt that it did not have to be Herbalife but it did have to be MLM. As I look over the many opportunities available, there are so many, FHTM seems to be a great company. They offer a variety of products and services. They've put together several groups of brand name services and products that a person can offer and make money. There are many benefits to network marketing.

One of the most popular seems to be purchasing leads from a lead generating company. At first glance, this appears to be a quick way to get potential customers on the phone. The first step is to figure out where and who you're going to purchase your leads from. You can do a quick Google search and you will see picking a company can be difficult. There are so many companies selling leads. How do you know what you are getting into? Well, you don't. Leads tend to be expensive, the contacts are often not who they are supposed to be and not someone who is actually chomping at the bit to get your call and join your opportunity as they will sometimes insinuate, but instead, someone who is annoyed by all the calls they have been receiving and by the time you talk to them they want nothing to do with you or your opportunity. Multilevel Marketing gets real Fortune HiTech Marketing has been around since 2001. Most and I mean most network marketing companies only last an average of 7 months. FHTM is way beyond that. I don't think a scam could survive that long without being exposed and prosecuted.

There are plenty of doubters regarding this industry. That doesn't make it bad, it simply means that they doubt the industry, plain and simple. Usually that doubt comes from lack of information. They've never taken the time to sit in a business presentation and ask questions.

I've been in the business for over a year now and am doing very well, thank you! I've worked with people that have failed in the business but in every case it was the person's fault not FHTM. People ask me "Do you guarantee success?" I tell them "No! Can you guarantee that you will work the business as required?" That's what it comes down to. Basically my business works when I do. If you're looking for a "Get rich quick scheme" then look somewhere else. This isn't one! It takes work and lots of dedication.

People will tell you about the high failure rate in the business. The fact is that all small businesses have a failure rate of over 80% within the first year! Does that mean all small businesses are scams? No, but it does say a lot about the people that start the failed businesses.

Get your information about the business from the right people. Never take financial advice from broke people! Talk to someone that's been in Fortune for more than just a few weeks or months. The seasoned people will tell you like it is. You may discover that this business is not for you or that you are not for the business.

There are lots of negative people out there. Just make sure you listen to the right people! Before you take their advice make sure you know about their background. Be wise when you take advice.
